Truly inspired filmmaking. This is the film hollywood has been crying out for ever since the heady days of premier shark movie - Jaws 3D. The CGI in this film is so awe inspiring you can be forgiven for believing they actually did get a real shark to jump out of the water and eat an aeroplane in mid flgiht.
Special effects aside, the quality of the script is what really sets this apart from the many forgettable action films of today. An Intelligent and involving tale interwoven with sub plots that add a deeply human element to each of the protagonists.
Pay special attention to the science experiment montage, which whilst offering a knowing homage to the Rocky films of the 70's, duly delivers a moment of comedy genius when the eureka moment finally arrives.
This film will without a doubt be one of the main contenders for the 2010 oscars, and in time could go down in history as one of the greatest movies ever made.
I strongly recommend this film to anyone and everyone. Like the thriller in Manilla, it's a shark and octopus fight to the death! (in the same clip played on repeat)
